Bactest has been announced as the winner of SME of the Year 2014. DesignEdge has helped develop Speedy Breedy a portable respirometer which works as a mini laboratory. Professor Annie Brooking, describes it as a “fast contamination test” which analyses substances from water and medicine, to beer and ice cream. Rachel Bridge, Head Judge said the panel was “very impressed by the fact that Bactest has come up with an innovative yet brilliantly simple product while reducing testing time for contamination.” DesignEdge was responsible for all aspects of the design including the advanced heating and rapid cooling system, taking the concept through into a production friendly product.
Said fellow judge Myleene Klass,”I was hugely impressed at the level of ambition this company has and at what they’re trying to achieve. They are genuinely changing the world one step at a time in a progressive, fearless manner and the level of expertise, enterprise and originality is a joy to behold.”
