Key Objectives

Industrial design and new product architecture for Qualcomm’s TrueWireless™ Stereo technology to be implemented into an innovative earbud, designed to eliminate the need for wires and offer users a wire-free stereo audio experience.


The DesignEdge team worked iteratively supporting Qualcomm to develop a multitude of rapid 3D prototypes to refine and improve user fit, and help to meet the challenges in combining ergonomics, aesthetics and comfort within a densely populated and extremely compact form factor.

“We engaged DesignEdge Cambridge Ltd over the course of three iterations of our in-ear headsets (our Biometric headset, Qualcomm TrueWireless Earbuds and sports wired version of the Qualcomm TrueWireless Earbuds). Our engagement lasted several months and resulted in the production of three form factors for our projects for our internal use during which time DesignEdge provided us with extremely valuable technical guidance, design help and support for our projects. We unveiled the headsets at CES in January 2018 and they have since received positive recognition in the market.”

Alexa Mobile

Push-button activation for Alexa on-the-go and Google Assistant on your phone from your earbuds, connecting to Interpreter Mode where Assistant can translate languages real time.

Compact Design

The design of the intricate internal chassis allows the flexible PCBs and leading edge electronics to be built into a highly compact form factor.

Noise Reduction

Ultra-low-power consumption extends playback time and battery life. Qualcomm cVc™ noise reduction technology supports active noise cancellation and superior audio quality.

The device features external/internal mics, a side mounted speaker, as well as primary, secondary and tertiary acoustic sound ports.
