What We Delivered
For over 30 years, Travel Blue has been at the forefront of the travel accessories revolution, driven by it’s core values of innovation, environmental consciousness and social responsibility. Our design challenge was to create an earthed worldwide plug adaptor that is ultra-compact, highly functional and stylish—all while navigating the complexities of numerous international patents. The adaptor needed to be intuitive and easy to use, yet robust enough to meet the demands of frequent travellers. Above all, it had to comply with stringent global safety and electrical standards covering BS 8546 and IEC 60884, ensuring peace of mind wherever your journey takes you.
Result
A key mechanical challenge in maintaining a space-saving form factor was the development of a patented dual-slider Schuko grounded plug, designed to allow maximum retraction of the pins within the plug body. Complementing this is an innovative country selection mechanism, featuring an integral locking and release system makes the adaptor easy to use. DesignEdge leveraged the latest CAD technology to meticulously detail every plastic and metal component, ensuring suitability for high-volume production. The result is a unique, worldwide earthed travel adaptor that combines three all-in-one plug types, compatible in over 150 countries. Both stylish and compact, this adaptor is an essential companion for safely connecting your devices wherever you travel.

Careful industrial design promotes a modern, clean identity with a curved profile and easy wipe down surfaces. DesignEdge detailed a full suite of plastic and metal parts for volume production through design research, prototyping and supply chain integration.
MULTIPLE WORLDWIDE COUNTRIES
Easy-to-use and intuitive country selector sliders are paired with a release/lock button for seamless operation. The sliding Schuko plug mechanism, along with all internal mechanical components—including the country selection system—was fully designed, developed, and detailed by DesignEdge.
