Key Objectives

Based on more than three decades of continual excellence and innovation in thermal imaging technology, Thermoteknix products operate in the harshest of environments. Thermoteknix and DesignEdge have been designing ground breaking imaging cameras for over ten years, so we were delighted when they approached us to develop their next generation TiCAM 90 miniature monocular. The technical requirements needed to meet a range of demanding challenges while delivering exceptional quality and uninterrupted imaging for situational awareness in both urban and remote environments. The enclosure design needed to be lightweight, easily carried in a jacket pocket, handheld or helmet-mountable, waterproof, dustproof and shockproof all packaged within a compact, ergonomic housing.

Result

TiCAM 90 is a miniature lightweight handheld thermal imaging monocular with MicroCAM 3 core and C-More digital image enhancement for optimum image clarity at all times. Features smooth, continuous zoom and operates for up to 4 hours on a single AA battery while external connections allow power and video output options. TiCAM 90 has direct menu feature selection, accessed via its unique multi-functional scroll wheel for ease of use, even when wearing gloves providing man detection in excess of 900m, TiCAM 90 is ideal for threat detection and man mobile surveillance usage. The 40-degree field of view matches that of the human eye, optimised for head or helmet-mounted patrol or situation awareness, while being compatible with most head or helmet mounting systems.

Exceptional design with optimum night image quality

Available in two sensor resolutions TiCAM 90, 384 x 288 or TiCAM 90+ 640 x 480 and incorporates Thermoteknix patented shutterless XTi technology for silent, uninterrupted imaging. Without any moving parts or interruption to imaging display, TiCAM 90’s ultra-low image latency ensures instant imaging without the lag. Significant tactical advantages are achieved by combining the unparalleled detection capabilities of thermal imaging with the superior identification capabilities of image intensification.

Feature 1

Weighing just 225g and powered by one single AA battery for up to 4 hours of use, TiCAM 90 minimises the carrying burden for every operation. Providing man detection in excess of 900m, TiCAM 90 is ideal for threat detection and man mobile surveillance.

Feature 2

Features include X1, X2 and X4 digital zoom, black hot/white thermal image, optional laser pointer (visible or IR) and external power input. Video output is available for integration into system transmission and recording devices.

Feature 3

The sculptured ergonomic form factor is shaped to fit around your eye and provide user comfort. The lightweight, miniature design features a quick access battery compartment and the adaptor is compatible with all major helmet mounting systems including Spuhr.

Feature 4

A quality 25mm lens captures thermal radiation while the field of view (FOV) reads 40 degrees. Inside the housing of the TiCAM 90 is the (uncooled, 17µm) 640 by 480px thermal imaging sensor with a refresh rate of 60Hz. The moulded housing can withstand dust, shocks and water, TiCAM 90 is suitable for surveillance missions, hunting, law enforcement, search and rescue operations.
