We consider in detail the Design for Manufacture DFM and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly DFMA with clients and contract manufacturers CMs. Detailing components and optimizing the selection of materials and manufacturing processes such as additive manufacture, injection moulding and CNC machining through to regulatory support. Our engineering and design methodology focusses on simplification and cost efficiency to improve manufacture, fabrication and ease of assembly. Considerations cover part count and standardisation, sub-systems, modular design, production processes, tooling design, quality control, environmental impact and meeting industry standards. We engaged DesignEdge Cambridge Ltd over the course of three iterations of our in-ear headsets (our Biometric headset, Qualcomm TrueWireless Earbuds and sports wired version of the Qualcomm TrueWireless Earbuds). Our engagement lasted several months and resulted in the production of three form factors for our projects for our internal use during which time DesignEdge provided us with extremely valuable technical guidance, design help and support for our projects. We unveiled the headsets at CES in January 2018 and they have since received positive recognition in the market.
